A METHOD FOR PROVISIONING COMPLEX DATA STORAGE DEVICES

Techniques for provisioning complex storage devices are described. Storage space in the storage device is selected for allocation. The central storage device is then informed of the host's authorization to access this space by way of changes to a volume database. A path is created to enable the host to access the allocated storage though a switching matrix by performing a zoning process in the switch. Finally, the host is configured to access the allocated storage.
