PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce memories required for saving text data by exchanging data between a character recognizing part and a translation part without interposing the text data and to shorten translation processing time by decreasing the number of steps required for translating processing as a whole. SOLUTION: The translation system is provided with a scanner 12, a character recognizing part 13 and a translation part 15, with which the protocol of data exchange is determined, linked with the character recognizing part. After a word is extracted from a recognized character string, the character recognizing part 13 converts the extracted word to a code 14 while referring to an encode table. When the code 14 is received from the character recognizing part 13, the translation part 15 refers to a dictionary for translation while using this code as an address of index word and further prepares a translated sentence by performing prescribed analyzing processing. |
