PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic chuck excellent in vibration-damping property. SOLUTION: Electrode surfaces of the electrostatic chuck are covered with an insulating layer. The electrodes are constituted of a metal-ceramic composite material provided by mixing ceramic powder with aluminum or aluminum alloy. The insulating layer is constituted of polyimide.
