<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an Internet facsimile communication system to exchange information of respective functions between a sender side and a receiver side and to transmit image data with a more simplified communication protocol. SOLUTION: A main control section 1 exchanges capability information between its own machine a destination facsimile machine by using electronic mail and transmits image data of one or a plurality of pages on the basis of the capability information exchanged between the facsimile machines through the use of the electronic mail as shown in Figure 7. Furthermore, the main control section 1 receives image data transmitted through the use of the electronic mail, executes a prescribed reception processing shown in Figures 9, 10, specifically, decodes the received image data and uses an image recording section 3 to print out the decoded image data on recording paper (step S22 in Figure 10), and transmits electronic mail including an X-MCF(message confirming) signal denoting the result of the reception processing to the destination facsimile machine (step S23) when no error takes place (NO in step S22A).</p> |
