The cage (1), having an elongated shape with two main faces (2) and two convex curved edges (3) to make contact with the plates of the vertebrae, is made with a lengthwise groove (4) along the middle of at least one of the edges between notched surfaces (5) forming teeth which promote a slight insertion into the vertebral plates. The main faces of the cage have holes (15) to promote bone cell invasion, and its two ends have holes (10) to receive the matching tip of a fitting instrument.
