PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection service and system for a wavelength division multiplex network that forcibly releases a user connection of a best effort type wavelength path with lower priority in the case that traffic of a wavelength path of a user with higher priority is increased so as to set the wavelength path of the user with higher priority and allows users to use the best effort type wavelength path at a low cost when the path is idle thereby efficiently operating the wavelength division multiplex network. SOLUTION: The system monitors traffic by each connection service class among ends 1A-1D connected to the wavelength division multiplex network 4, sets best effort type wavelength paths by a number required to cover the traffic in excess when the traffic excess number of wavelength paths connected at present and permits the release of connection when the release of the best effort type wavelength paths connected to users with lower priority is required.
