A screen is disposed almost in parallel to the yz plane. The reflection plane of a first mirror is disposed almost vertical to the yz plane and tilted at about 45 deg. to the xy plane. At least an electro-optical device, a color synthesizing means and a projection lens are disposed along the xy plane and in such a way that the center of an image beam emitted from a color synthesizing optical system is incident onto the first mirror in parallel to the xy plane and at a deg. to the y axis. A second mirror is disposed almost vertical to the xz plane and at about 45 deg. minus a/2 to the yz plane so that an image beam as light reflected from the first mirror is reflected again off the second mirror with the center of the image beam shone almost vertically onto the center of the screen. Accordingly, the positional adjustment of the optical system constituting the projector is facilitated and the entire apparatus is downsized. |
