PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual LAN setting method which simplifies changing of the virtual LAN setting, a network managing system using it, a switching hub, and network managing device, which settle the problem where a network manager is required to be called for changing the setting of the virtual LAN for extra labor, each time the installation of a terminal is moved. SOLUTION: A switching hub 101, connected to a terminal 105, informs a network-managing device 103 of a user ID of the terminal 105. The network managing device 103 which manages a virtual LANID for each user ID replies with a virtual LANID as a response to the notice. Thus, the virtual LAN is set at the switching hub 101, and a user can access the virtual LAN from a wanted terminal 105 by only making a log-in.
