By specifying the combination of human interferon a subtypes remarkably potentiating the expression of a protein synthesis regulatory gene, an expression potentiator for the above gene containing this combination as the active ingredient and use thereof are provided. Namely, an expression potentiator for a protein synthesis regulatory gene which contains as the active ingredients subtypes .alpha.2 and .alpha.8 of human interferon .alpha . and use of this potentiator involving medicines.
