PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination apparatus enabling a plane emission with high luminance. SOLUTION: The illumination apparatus has a light guide 6, through which the light from a light source 7 is received at a light receiving surface 6a and is emitted from a light emitting surface 6b, wherein the surface 6c opposite to the light receiving surface 6a of the light guide 6 is inclined. Because the light reaching the sloped surface 6c is reflected thereat with an angle, the light is subsequently reflected in the increased number of times and diffused more frequently inside of the light guide 6, which results in the improved luminance of the emitting light from the light emitting surface 6b. Each diffusion pattern 12 of a diffusion sheet 9 is changed according to the distance from the sloped surface 6c to each diffusion pattern, so that the intensity of the plane emission can be uniformized. |
