PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can prevent a hue of an image signal after conversion from being changed. SOLUTION: A histogram generating circuit 71 generates a histogram of luminance signals Y sequentially received in the unit of images and provides an output to a correction LUT generating circuit 72. The correction LUT generating circuit 72 generates a correction LUT denoting an correction value (k) with respect to a combination of a luminance signal Y and color difference signals C on the basis of the histogram of the received luminance signals Y and stores the result to a correction value LUT memory 74. The correction LUT memory 74 collates the received luminance signal Y and color difference signals C with the correction value LUT to acquire a corresponding correction value (k) and outputs it to a gradation correction circuit 61. The gradation correction circuit 61 multiplies the correction value (k) with the received luminance signal Y and color difference signals Cr, Cb, respectively.
