PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high-speed cell search during the time a mobile station enters a soft handover mode in an inter-basestation asynchronous system. SOLUTION: A timing of scramble code masks of the handover destination is determined by detection of correlation between reception signals and common short codes (S411). At this time, the reception timing of mask symbols of cells in communication is excluded from the search range for the scramble code mask timing of the handover destination, so as not to receive reception signals of cells which are already in communication (S412). In the detected scramble code mask timing of the handover destination, correlation between reception signals and codes multiplied by scramble codes and common short codes is detected (S421) and scrambled codes for the reception signals of the handover destination are identified according to the size of the correlation value.
