PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device excels in durability and having high luminosity. SOLUTION: The light emitting device contains bulk quantities having a pyromethene compound of a formula 1 or one or more skeleton of its metal complex. One or more of R1 to R7 are connected directly to other pyromethene skeleton, or through its substitution group, and the others of them may be same or differ, and are such as alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, alkynyl, hydroxyl group, mercapte, alkoxy, alkylthio, arylether, arylthioether, aryl, heterocyclic ring, halogen, haloalkane, haloalkene, haloalkyne, cyano, aldehyde, carbonyl, carboxyl, ester, carbamoyl, amino, nitro, silyl, siloxanyl group, or condensed rings formed from aromatic group, aliphatic group, and heterocyclic ring formed between adjacent substitution groups.
