<p>The fuel injector includes a housing (14) with a cylindrical chamber (34) and a central bore (13) along the chamber. A pilot valve body (38) has a collar (52) in the cylindrical chamber, and a cylindrical nipple (51) that protrudes from the collar. The nipple is axially crossed by a pilot valve channel (26) that has an outlet surrounded by a pilot valve seat (28) in the collar. A solenoid assembly (36) in the chamber has a magnetic flux conducting frame (42) and a magnetic flux generating coil (44). The frame has co-planar pole surfaces (48,50). A non-magnetic spacer (60,60') axially separates the pole surfaces and the pilot valve seat. A magnetically responsive closing disk (40) is axially arranged between the pole surfaces and the pilot valve seat. A closing spring (70) is associated with the closing disk to bias it towards the pilot valve seat. The solenoid assembly can be electrically energized to attract the closing disk away from the pilot valve seat against the action of the spring. The spring is capable of seating the closing disk on the pilot valve seat when the solenoid is not energized, to close off the pilot valve channel. A non-magnetic sleeve (74,74') engages the collar and the frame to directly align the conducting frame relative to the collar.</p> |
