The modified Sothon's medium is enriched with additional source of carbon and nitrogen. Liquid paraffin (n-alkanes with amount of carbon in chain from C.12 to C17) is added to the medium composition as a film-forming substance and an additional source of carbon and nitrogen. Ammonium nitrate is used as an additional source of nitrogen. This alternation of medium composition ensures to enhance both the rate growth and rhodococci sowing from samples of environment and biomaterials from humans and animals.
