PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension for a disk drive, capable of accurately positioning a base part and a beam part, and reducing the mass of the beam part. SOLUTION: This suspension 17 is provided with a base part 30, a beam part 31 made of a material similar to that of the base part 30 and having a thickness reduced more than that of the base part 30 by partial etching, and a hinge member 32 for connecting the base part 30 and the beam part 31. To manufacture this suspension 17, first, a plate-like suspension semi-product having the base part 30, the beam part 31 and a connecting part connecting these integrally is manufactured. The thickness of the beam part 31 of the suspension semi-product is reduced by partial etching. Then, the base part 30 and the hinge part 31 are connected to each other by the hinge member 32, and the connecting part and the base part 30 are separated from the beam part 31. |
