PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional fingerprint scanner that the image of a fingerprint subtly changes with the change in the force of a finger, when a finger placed on a plane glass, thrust to the glass without being fitted thereto that, so a person cannot be identified properly. SOLUTION: This fingerprint scanner comprises a finger placing board on which a finger is placed, a light source for irradiating a fingerprint portion via the finger placing board and an image pickup element for picking up the image of the light difference reflected from the fingerprint portion of the finger, the finger placement board being formed along the fingerprint portion of the finger to make the image hard to be distorted.
