PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive composition for polarizing plates which retains an excellent adhesion even under a high-temperature, high-humidity condition, inhibits expansion or scaling caused by change in dimensions, especially in large polarizing plates, relieves stress concentration caused by expansion and contraction, etc., of polarizing plate layers and inhibits mottling or blank phenomenon of liquid crystal elements. SOLUTION: The adhesive composition for polarizing plates comprises, against a copolymer (A) having a weight average molecular weight of from 500,000 to 1,500,000 prepared by copolymerizing a monomer mixture comprising from 90 to 99.8 wt.% alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer (b) and from 0.2 to 10 wt.% unsaturated monomer (c) containing a carboxyl group and/or a hydroxyl group using a polymeric azo polymerization initiator (a) having a polymer segment and an azo group, an alkyl (meth)acrylate (co)polymer (B) having no functional group which has a weight average molecular weight of from 1,000 to 20,000 and a molecular weight dispersion (MW/MN) of from 1.0 to 2.5 and a crosslinking agent (C). |
