PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope illuminator which maintains the conditions of Koehler illumination good in the fresh positional relation between an aperture-stop and a light source after exchange even when a condenser section is exchanged and to provide the microscope illuminator which optimizes a light source magnification according to the fresh condenser lens. SOLUTION: The transmitted illuminator of the inverted microscope having a Koehler illumination system, in which a correction optical system cassette 26 consisting of a concave lens 22 and a convex lens 24 and having a prescribed minus power is inserted near to a field stop FS by accompanying the exchange from the initially installed condenser lens section 20a having the long-working distance condenser lens 16a and the aperture-stop AS1 to the condenser lens section 20b housing the high-NA-compliant condenser lens 16b and the aperture- stop AS2. Namely, the concave lens 22 and the convex lens 24 are inserted to the field lens 14 side and contact lens 12 side near the field stop FS, respectively.
