PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the mismatching of the timing in reading-out and writing of a line memory occurs and adequate image display is heretofore not possible in carrying out video magnification. SOLUTION: This image display device has a first clock forming means which outputs a first clock in accordance with the input horizontal synchronizing signal corresponding to horizontal lines constituting an input image signal, a second clock forming means which outputs a second clock, a memory constituted in such a manner that the image data formed by sampling the input image signal in accordance with the first clock is accumulated by using the first clock and is read out by using the second clock, a control means which controls the period of the output horizontal synchronizing signal in reading out and displaying the accumulated image data from the memory according to respective pieces of the information; the image size information of the input image signal, the period information of the input horizontal synchronizing signal, the size information of a display panel and the period information of the second clock and a synchronizing signal forming means which outputs the output horizontal synchronizing signal in accordance with the control signal. |
