PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2-glycidyloxyetyl(meth)acrylate, by which the 2-glycidyloxyethyl(meth)acrylate can simply be produced in a good purity and in a good yield without special equipment. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 2-glycidyloxyetyl(meth)acrylate comprises a process for reacting 2-hydroxyethyl(meth)acrylate with an epihalohydrin in the presence of an acid catalyst to produce a 3-halo-2- hydroxypropyloxyethyl(meth)acrylate and a process for subjecting the 3-halo-2- hydroxypropyloxyethyl(meth)acrylate to a hydrogen chloride-removing reaction comprising treating the 3-halo-2-hydroxypropyloxyethyl(meth)acrylate with an alkali to produce the 2-glicidyloxyethyl(meth)acrylate. The method is characterized by using a carbonate compound as the alkali. |
