PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively obstruct the temperature elevation within an optical surface plate and to reduce the size over the entire part of an optical scanner. SOLUTION: This optical scanner has a light source section 50, a light beam scanning section 52, the optical surface plate 54 and a control section 53. The control section 53 has a first substrate 64 for control which is mounted in the optical surface plate 54 and a second substrate 86 for drive which is mounted on the outside of the optical surface plate 54 and is provided with at least a power source section 94. The elevation of the temperature in the optical surface plate 54 by the heat generation of the power source section 94 is thus prevented.
