PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable focal distance lens having a large change width of a focal distance not depending on the change of a refractive index but depending on the change of lens shape, and having the focal distance easily changed according to an external signal. SOLUTION: This lens is provided with a watertight container having light transmissive areas facing to each other in an optical axis direction and constituted so that the shape of at least its one part may be varied, light transmissive liquid with which the container is filled, and an adjusting means having conductive members arranged to face each other, deforming the container by changing space between the conductive members by application of voltage and changing space of a light transmissive area.
