LIGHT GUIDING PLATE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guiding plate capable of reliably reading out a displayed image such as letters displayed on a liquid crystal cell by diminishing unevenness in molding of a resin material having polarizing property caused in a molded light guiding body near a gate part in molding and diminishing unevenness in polarization due to the unevenness in molding and to provide a liquid crystal display using the light guiding plate. SOLUTION: The light guiding plate has a molded light guiding body 8b comprising a transparent resin material. A gate 8c shown by the chain double- dashed line is formed at one end 8a of the light guiding body 8b and the width of the gate 8c is adjusted to >=1/2 of the width B of the light guiding body 8b. The direction of molecular flow of the resin material near the gate generated in molding is stabilized and unevenness in molding of the molding material near the gate can be diminished. As a result, a region with unevenness in polarization generated in an unevenly molded part of the resin material having polarizing property can be made to be small.
