PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the formation of a deposited layer in the production of reduced iron with a rotary hearth furnace and to facilitate the removal of the deposited layer formed on the furnace hearth. SOLUTION: The method for producing the reduced iron with the rotary hearth furnace, comprises charging agglomerate containing iron oxide raw material on the rotary furnace hearth in the rotary hearth furnace while rotating the rotary furnace hearth in layer-state, performing reduction treatment of the iron oxide while rotating the rotary furnace hearth, and carrying the reduced agglomerate out of the rotary hearth furnace. The rotating operation containing a first process, in which the reducing treatment is performed at several times of circulations while laying the agglomerate on the rotary furnace hearth together with the rotation of the rotary furnace hearth, and the agglomerate is successively layered, and a second process, in which the layered agglomerate is carried out of the rotary hearth furnace, layer by layer, is performed.
