PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable rendering the sharkskin soft by tanning in spite of the scales unremoved and, simultaneously, reducing the production cost. SOLUTION: The sharkskin is processed to a leather by successively conducting backing, dipping in water, pretreatment, and pre-tanning by rotating in a rotary drum, and stuffing, removal of tan, removal of iron, bleaching, and retanning.
