PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable oxygen carrier which has high oxygen-carrying efficiency without adding an axial basic ligand. SOLUTION: This oxygen carrier includes a porphyrin aggregate comprising a porphyrin derivative represented by the general formula (I) [(n) is the number of methylene groups; R1 is an alkylene; R2 is a substituent not inhibiting the coordination of imidazole to the central metal; M is hydrogen atom or a transition metal ion in the 4 to 5 periods; X- is a halide ion selected from chloride ion, bromide ion and iodide ion; (m) is 0 or an integer obtained by subtracting 2 from the valency of the metal ion].
