PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily and accurately measure the ultrasonic characteristics of a specimen. SOLUTION: The physical properties of the specimen by ultrasonic waves are measured using an ultrasonic measuring device consisting of an ultrasonic probe 1, that comprises a transmission vibrator 2 and reception vibrators 3 and 4 for bringing a vibration surface directly into contact with the surface of the specimen O, and a signal processing section for specifying a target signal obtained, by allowing the reception vibrators 3 and 4 to receive the diffracted wave of the transmission vibrator 2 which is propagated near the surface of the specimen O from a measurement signal obtained by the reception vibrators 3 and 4.
