PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the commercial value of an engine generator by enabling a muffler to be disposed close to a fuel tank and specifying the discharge direction of a cooling air used for cooling the muffler in the engine generator in which an engine, a generator connected to the engine, and the fuel tank disposed above the generator are mounted on a frame, and further a thermal shield board is arranged between the fuel tank and the muffler which is disposed between the engine and the above tank. SOLUTION: A muffler chamber 56 in which the muffler 36 is housed is formed below a muffler cover 42 which covers the muffler 36 from above and is connected to the thermal shield board 32. Then, the cooling air discharged from the generator 12 and also from the engine 15 is collected and guided to the side of muffler 36. Further, at a side where a discharge port with which the muffler 36 is provided along its longitudinal direction is disposed, one end side of the muffler chamber 56 is opened outside and its other end side is closed.
