PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a shock in slip lockup control regardless of a coast-down or drive state. SOLUTION: A slip rotation command value (a feedback command value) is calculated on the basis of a deviation between an actual slip rotating speed and a target value, and target torque-converter torque is calculated from the slip rotation command value and slip rotation gain. The target torque-converter torque is converted into a target fastening capacity command value, and a fastening pressure command value of a lockup clutch is calculated from the target fastening capacity command value. Here, whether a state is a coast-down state or a drive state is discriminated from an idle switch and the actual slip rotating speed, and the slip control gain is set in a switching system on the basis of a discriminating result.
