PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely rotate and set a swing arm without manually unlocking the swing arm even in a vehicle of a high lift point by widening a range of height to automatically unlock the swing arm. SOLUTION: In this arm detent device 20 in the lift 10 used for the maintenance of a vehicle, operated parts 22, 23 of engagement bodies 21, 22 are co-operated with a lower releasing part 34 of a locking and unlocking bar 32 to set the engagement bodies 21 22 on non-engagement positions to lock gears 15, 16 when a lift body 12 is located within a specific range at a lower limit side, and the operated parts 23, 24 of the engagement bodies 21, 22 are co-operated with an upper engagement part 35 of the locking and unlocking bar 32 to set the engagement bodies 21, 22 on engagement positions to the lock gears 15, 16.
