PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent jump out of a piston rod with an easy means, when the piston is driven in a pneumatic cylinder adopting a cushion mechanism. SOLUTION: The cushion mechanism stops the driving of the piston 3 with buffering action by the compressed air residual in a discharge side pressure chamber 6A or 6B. It comprises a cushion packing installed in the inner circle of the depression part 11, that has a channel 14 for venting of compressed air in the cover of a cylinder tube 2, and a cushion ring 18 installed on a piston that fits into the cushion packing inside the depression part. The cushion packing comprises a first packing 12a and a second packing 12b. The first packing 12a, installed in the opening part of the depression part 11, allows the flow from the depression part side to a pressure chamber. The second packing comprises O-rings installed in the inner circle of the depression part. The cushion ring sets a groove 19, forming a throttle channel around the cushion ring 18 surface.
