PURPOSE: An active matrix LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the disconnection between a metal line and a pixel electrode even when a transparent electrode layer is not etched neatly and to reduce the resistance of an interconnection line by forming a second metal line under the interconnection line. CONSTITUTION: A metal layer(10) is deposited on a transparent substrate. Many continuous metal lines and many non-continuous metal lines are patterned by using a first mask. An insulating layer(11), an amorphous semiconductor layer(12) and a heavily-doped semiconductor layer(13) are continuously deposited on the transparent substrate. Many vertical and horizontal layers are covered on the insulating layer, the amorphous semiconductor layer, and the heavily-doped semiconductor layer by using a second mask, and many contact holes are formed in the disconnected end portion of the non-continuous metal lines by patterning. The heavily-doped semiconductor layer, the amorphous semiconductor layer, and the insulating layer are etched. A transparent conductive layer(15) is deposited on the substrate. The transparent conductive layer is patterned by an interconnection line placed on the continuous metal line. A passivation layer(16) is deposited on the substrate.
