PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element realizing an optical element having excellent transmission wave front abberation characteristics and a high numerical aperture and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In the optical element constructed with a group of n lenses (provided that n is >=2 integer), a material with glass transition temperature lower than that of a material for an (m-1)-th lens is used as the material for an m-th lens (provided that m is an arbitrary integer of >=2 and <=n). The m-th lens is molded with one surface of the (m-1)-th lens and a metallic mold, and at the same time, the m-th lens is joined to the one surface of the (m-1)-th lens. Taking the case of n=2 and m=2 as an example, an optical element constructed with a group of two lenses is manufactured which consists of a first lens G1 and a second lens G2 as described in Figure. The second lens G2 is composed of the material with glass transition temperature lower than that of the material for the first lens G1, molded with one surface S2 of the first lens G1 and the metallic mold and joined to the one surface S2 of the first lens G1.
