PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relief valve capable of effectively preventing a moving member from sideways swinging and establishing the prevention of an oscillating phenomenon and enhancement of the override characteristic compatibly. SOLUTION: A guide part 14 is provided extensionally at the seat 6 of the relief valve 1 so that a ball 5 to open and close a seat hole 6B is guided in slide contact with the inside surface 14A of this guide part 14. A plurality of orifices 17 are formed in the side face of the guide part 14, and thereby the operation of a ball supporting member 4 is stabilized by the damping action of the orifices 17 and also the pressure of a chamber 16 before the orifices 17 is raised so that the override characteristic of the valve 1 is improved.
