摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wasteful fuel consumption and generation of black smoke by excessive fuel loading, or overheat of a catalyst for exhaust emission control by shortage of fuel loading, when overheat preventing processing for the exhaust emission control catalyst is conducted in an internal combustion engine provided with an air-fuel mixture agitating means. SOLUTION: Correspondence relation between an engine operated condition and the catalyst overheat preventing loading OT is changed (S142, S143, and S144, S145) in response to an opening and closing condition of a gas flow control valve (S141). The loading OT is allowed thereby to be different in response to the opening and closing condition of the control valve. The loading OT is reduced or made zero by this constitution when a degree of the agitation for an air-fuel mixture is high, so as to prevent the wasteful fuel consumption and the generation of the black smoke. When the degree of the agitation for the mixture is low, the loading OT is generated or increased to prevent sufficiently the overheat of the exhaust emission control catalyst.
