PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder mounting a conveying form having high stop accuracy difficult for receiving an influence of a torque (speed) ripple of a conveying motor or a transmitting means and reducing cost. SOLUTION: A basic minimum conveying amount pitch P of paper, when an image is formed, is conformed to an integer multiple of a conveying amount Tp corresponding to one period component of a cogging torque ripple (or speed change by cogging) (P=nTp, n is integer). In addition, all conveying amounts Pf capable of existing in each mode are conformed to an integer multiple of the basic minimum conveying amount pitch P (Pf=mP, m is integer). Like satisfying a condition thus conformed, a speed reduction ratio between a paper conveying roller and its drive motor is set.
