PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for surely displaying the boundary of a running lane to a driver. SOLUTION: This vehicle peripheral area display device comprises a TV camera 10 installed on a vehicle and providing image signals by imaging the status of a vehicle peripheral area, coordinate converting part 22a, area designating part 22b, and image signal generating part 22c for generating image signals by applying distortion correction and view point conversion to the image signals, a drawing signal generating part 22d for generating drawing signals for showing the vehicle (self-car), an image synthesizing part 22e for synthesizing the generated image signals with the generated drawing signals to generate display signals, and a display 50 for displaying images based on the display signals. Since the device displays the status of the vehicle peripheral area and a graphic showing the self-car on a same screen, a white lane which tends to be detected erroneously must not be detected, and the boundary of the running lane can be surely displayed to the driver.
