PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an excellent write-in of an image by detecting the difference in arriving time of light beams in the respective main scanning directions of the light beams and eliminating the generation of the displacement of a main scanning position. SOLUTION: The multi beam recorder, which scans photoreceptor with a plurality of light beams collectively and records image data on the photoreceptor, is provided with a light beam position detection part 7 which detects the scanning positions of light beams, an image clock starting signal generating part 8 which generates a pixel clock starting signal for forming the pixel clock corresponding to the deviation of beam positions by detecting the displacement of the light beams in the main scanning direction on the basis of the difference in the arriving time to the light beam position detection part 7 of respective light beams according to the beam position detection signal outputted from the light beam position detection part 7, and an image clock generation part 9 which generates the pixel clock according to the pixel clock starting signal.
