PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely obstruct the occurrence of trouble in images by stray light and to ensure high-quality scan processing with simple constitution. SOLUTION: A laser beam irradiation mechanism 42 has a light source section 50, a light beam scanning section 52 and an optical surface plate 54. The light beam scanning section 52 is formed by subjecting a lower flange section 82 and upper flange section 84 constituting a polygon mirror 62 to black color treatment as antireflection treatment and subjecting leaf springs 88a, 88b, 90a and 90b for fixing first and second fθlenses 64 and 66 to black color treatment. The wall section of the optical surface plate 54 is provided with rugged-shape areas 94 continuous with each other at a pitch P below the irradiation diameter of a laser beam L to the wall section.
