PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic elastomer composition which comprises an olefin resin and an ethylene-α-olefin based copolymer rubber as the polymer components and maintains various properties such as external appearance, elasticity, heat resistance, and tensile strength at the satisfactory level and, at the same time, does not cause the clogging of a strainer due to the generation of foreign substances on production to thereby enable very efficient production. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic elastomer composition is obtained by subjecting a composition comprising (A) 5-50 pts.wt. olefin resin, (B) 50-95 pts.wt. ethylene-α-olefin based copolymer rubber (provided that the sum of component (A) and component (B) is set at 100 pts.wt.) and, based on 100 pts.wt. sum of components (A) and (B), (C) 0.001-5 pts.wt. organic peroxide and (D) 0.01-25 pts.wt. compound to be represented by the formula (wherein R is a divalent organic group having a plurality of phenylene groups having a substituent) to dynamic heat treatment.
