A phosphor emitting a visible light under an exciting light composed mainly of ultraviolet light of 100 nm to 400 nm, which is represented by the following composition formula: <paragraph lvl="0"><in-line-formula>(Ba1-a-b-cCaaSrbMc)O.xMgO.yAl2O3 </in-line-formula>wherein M is at least one element selected from Eu, Tm, Lu and Mn, and a, b, c, x and y satisfy the following conditions: 0<a<=0.01, 0<b<=0.01, 0.01<=c<=0.3, 0<=x<=2.2, and 0<=y<=12.0; and a display device and a light source using said phosphor. |
