WATER-ABSORBING POLYMER WITH BIODEGRADABILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing polymer having a superior biodegradability and a high water-absorbing capability. SOLUTION: The water-absorbing polymer with biodegradability which is produced by directly cross-linking a biodegradable polyamino acid having a carboxy group on a sidechain with a biodegradable compound which contains two functional groups reacting with a carboxy group and hydrophilic groups of more than two of the same kind as the functional group or hydrophilic groups of more than one different from the functional group within the same molecule is provided. The production method for the water-absorbing high polymer with biodegradability where the cross-linking reaction is performed in an organic solvent, water or their mixed solvent by using a water soluble carbodiimide or if necessary adding a base.
