PURPOSE: A standard time setting apparatus and a method thereof are provided, which set a GPS standard time automatically at the same time when a power is turned on, and correct an error of time periodically. CONSTITUTION: A base station(20) uses a GPS(Global Positioning System) to set a standard time of a system, and a receiver of the GPS embedded in the base station receives information as to time, position and frequency. If the received time information is set as a system standard time of the base station, the time information is inputted to a field of a system standard time of a synchronous channel. A pilot channel is transmitted on the basis of a pilot PN offset and the system standard time determined at each base station, and the synchronous channel is transmitted also. A receiver(31) of an electronic product(30) acquires the pilot channel transmitted from the base station, and makes time of the system equal to its own reference time by being synchronized to the base station and receiving time information from the synchronous channel. The decoded information is inputted to a timer(33) to set a GPS standard time automatically, and then is displayed on a display part(35). |
