PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reflection type LCD having high display quality by preventing blur of a picture due to a front light. SOLUTION: The front light 30 having a light emitting surface in a position separated from a display region 11 is provided. Since the reflection type LCD does not have a second light guide part 134 to be disposed in front of the display region 11, the LCD is free from the diffusion of light due to the second light guide part and the blur of the picture is reduced. Since light is collected to a central part 12 or the center 13 of the display region 11, luminance distribution is not unnatural. Reflection plates 34 and 44 are provided on the side opposite to the front light 30 to enhance the utilization efficiency of light.
