PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method wherein the soundness of a detector is evaluated in a plurality of operating states and the calibrating operation of the detector is supported by using its evaluation result. SOLUTION: The support apparatus for the calibration of the detector is provided with a first database 63 in which a plurality of estimation models used to estimate a true value are stored according to the operating state of a plant 1 or the like, a state grasping means 56 which automatically grasps a first operating state on the basis of a detector signal supplied from the detector in the plant 1 or the like and which selects an estimation model according to the operating state on the basis of the first database 63, a true-value estimation means 52 which uses the selected estimation model and which estimates the true value on the basis of the measured value of the detector signal, a second database 68 in which two or more sets of measured values and true values for each detector are stored regarding each operating state of the plant 1 or the like, a drift-amount evaluation means 67 which finds the drift amount of the detector on the basis of a combination of the two or more sets of measured values and true values and a calibration-amount evaluation means 79 which finds the calibration amount of the detector on the basis of the drift amount.
