PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger head capable of avoiding compacting and sticking of excavated earth by controlling sticking of viscous earth to small amount. SOLUTION: The auger head 1 comprises a plurality of excavating blades 3 and 3 each having a line of excavating pawls 2 at the front end of a plate to excavate the ground, and a center shaft 4 holding the excavating blades 3 and 3 against the lower end of a rotating shaft such as an auger shaft. The center shaft 4 has an end in the form of a tapered frustum, with the plurality of excavating blades 3 and 3 mounted on the tapered surface 4b thereof, and with excavating pawls 4 and 5 provided at the end of the center shaft.
