PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil improvement device capable of lengthening the effectively improved length of a rotary shaft such as stirring shaft or the like without lengthening the length of a guide leader. SOLUTION: The soil improvement device includes the rotary shaft 31 penetrated into the ground in a drawable manner, a rotationally driving means 32 formed by placing a rotationally driving motor 36 for rotationally driving the rotary shaft 31 on a device block 35 provided to the upper part of the rotary shaft 31 and the guide leader erected on a base machine and, at the same time, providing a coping 25 supporting a sheave in a rotatable manner to the upper part thereof, and in the soil improvement device hanging the rotationally driving means 32 and the rotary shaft 31 through a rising and falling wire hung on the sheave, the coping 25 has a space 26 for storing the rotationally driving motor 36 when the rotationally driving means 32 is suspended to the highest position. For that purpose, the dead length of the rotary shaft 31 is shortened and, at the same time, the effectively improved length can be lengthened.
