PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which modulates R, G and B lights and projects by using one display element, and allow coinciding optical path lengths of three primary colors and improving the efficiency of illumination. SOLUTION: A white light from a lamp 1 is separated by color separating parts LS1, LS2 and modulated by a liquid crystal element 12. The color separating part LS1 comprises the first, second and third dichroic mirrors 18-20. The color separating part LS2 comprises dichroic mirrors 8-10. The order of separating of R, G and B lights in the color separating part LS1 is the reversed order of separating of R, G and B lights in the color separating part LS2. |
