PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified economical method and device for inspection permitting rapid enhancement of inspection accuracy for the contents of an inspected object as well as detection for the presence of contents itself regardless of its conditions by clearly shading difference in brightness between liquid section and non-liquid section. SOLUTION: The inspection method is to inspect the contents capacity of a light transmittance state liquid 20 contained in a light transmittance state vessel 10 wherein at least, an inspected section 12 is provided with a circular or an elliptical crossed section 11. While irradiating the inspected section of the vessel with an inspection light W from the rear of vertically-halved one side 13, the other side 14 is to be a dark space B. Then both a liquid dark space 21 and a liquid bright space 22 mirror- reversed by a refracted light from liquid section on the front side of an inspected area in the vessel are and created and the liquid dark space on the lower side of a non-liquid bright space 31 formed by a straight-traveling light from non-liquid area and the liquid bright space on the are presented, lower side of a non-liquid dark space 32 to measure their shading level. Thus the presence of liquid in the inspected area and its level is checked if existed.
